Setting Up Shop


Deanne Maiocchi of Maiocchi and John Prikryl of Check talk about their individual experiences setting up a fashion label from scratch. From selling her t-shirts at the Valley markets Maiocchi is now stocked in over 70 stores across Australia and New Zealand.

 

John graduated from QUT's highly regarded Fashion Design course in 2005. John's semi-bespoke designs and use of high quality fabrics has seen him show collections at the L'Oreal Melbourne and Mercedes-Benz Brisbane Fashion Festivals. He recently opened a store in the new TCB complex alongside Brisbane hottest young designers.

 

Technology in Fashion


Artist and researcher Danielle Wilde disusses her investigations in how technology might be paired with the body to poeticise experience. Based at Monash University and the CSIRO Division of Textile and Fibre Technology, Danielle creates wearable interfaces and body extensions that inspire people to move.

Currently working with international fashion label Easton Pearson and as a sessional fashion lecturer at QUT, Jane Morley talks about her journey through the fashion industry since she started out in 2004. Jane has worked in many and varied roles in that time, including assistant designer, product developer, and production manager.
