Media Architecture Institute (MAI) Summit, Beijing 2015.

Media Architecture (MA) has only been in the world for less than 20 years, yet recently it has been rapidly developing. This is particularly true of China, where MA has become a powerful force in leading the transformation of urban landscape and living in people’s mind. The 2015 Media Architecture Institute Summit reflects the rapid growth in this area of research in China and the development of news courses in institutions such as China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA).

Media Architecture lives at the intersection of physical and digital space. It is potentially a combination of art and technology underpinned by an inter-disciplinary fusion of architecture, communication, public art, urban science, sociology, and economics. As well as the hardware and software developments in the fields of LED technology, internet technology, interactive technology, intelligent control, computer science and other fields and disciplines.

The development of Media Architecture is causing changes in the decision making process of building design and industry chain. MAI state that Media Architecture brings new and genuine challenges, and opportunities, into 21st century architecture and urban development.
