The underlying concept for Play Plates is inspired by the interplay of shadow and light dancing upon the surface of the nearby watercourse, produced by the overhanging Fig tree. Notions of refraction and stepping-stones are inspired by this interplay. Play Plates are inherently organic in form and present a fresh, non-directive, negotiation of creative play. They float elegantly off the ground and inspire exploration under, through and upon them.  The flowing concave and convex surfaces stimulate a greater degree of bodily use and awareness as children navigate a myriad of play experiences.
