Commisioned through Cox Rayner Architects for Cairns Port Authority, 2008

KeeL is made up of three sculptural elements embodying ideas of repetition, materiality, functionality, transition, nautical, nostalgia, current, active and static.

KeeL one is the marker piece, creating a gateway from one vista to another; visually connecting the marina side of the development to the top of the flowing walkway and lagoon area.

KeeL two and three also bring another element; the Prop. This aspect of the elements creates a notion of weight which differentiates these elements from the marker piece.

The scale of these two elements allows for a more intimate interaction with the work, whilst KeeL one located on the apex of a grassy knoll, remaining aloof; as a mast spar on a yacht.
